Oh god, CallieMo makes the best salsa EVER! Delicious and spicy and SO FRIGGIN GOOD!
On that topic, CallieMo, what do I have to do to get more salsa? Cookies? Money? Sexual favors? (Take the money. I don't think the cookies would be any good after being mailed, and hubby gets mad at me when I trade sexual favors for food.) _________________ There will come a time when you believe everything is finished, but that will be the beginning. - Louis L'Amour

Heh, it makes me happy that our hot salsa is in high demand. We'll see how much I'm able to make this year. The habanero plants look healthy but there's not a hell of a lot of peppers on them. I'm thinking the excessive rain (11.42 freaking inches in July...normal rain is like 3.82 for the month) sort of cramped their style. The plum tomatoes are pretty good, so I guess I can just buy some habaneros if needs must but I always like using my homegrown ones best of all. I'll have to check what kinds of hot peppers the CSA farm we belong to is growing this year too.
I'll put you on the waiting list though. My cousin comes first since she even craved that salsa when she was pregnant with her daughter and that daughter is now also a pepperhead at age 11!
My family (other than my Dad) are all wussies when it comes to heat, so their favorite is the carrot/tomato salsa that I started making a few years ago. That's only got jalapenos but it's nice and sweet from the carrots.
We've been in canning overdrive this year since we joined that CSA farm share thing and get all sorts of cool fruits and veggies. I've already made two kinds of jam and a batch of sweet pickles and I need to make another batch of pickles this week too.

Carrot/tomato? I don't think I've ever heard of that combination before. _________________ There will come a time when you believe everything is finished, but that will be the beginning. - Louis L'Amour

If it's what I'm thinking it is, it doesn't really resemble salsa all that much, but it is pretty good on tortilla chips, among other things. _________________ This post brought to you by Petty Revenge: When not being a jerk just won't do.

It's actually pretty similar, there's tomatoes, onions, and jalapeno peppers but it also has shredded carrots in it. They've got a similar texture but this is slightly less chunky and has a sweet mild taste. It's good on tortilla chips, crackers and it kicks ass as a topping for baked chicken or fish...mmm..
I could dig out a jar from the end of last season (think there's one or two left at most) and take a picture, but I'm too lazy right now to.
