WOW. They had footage of the Republican National Convention on TV a second ago (my parents were looking for news about Gustav), seriously, if you are a Republican you guys should be ASHAMED.

After some big dumb speech that championed the "character" of McCain, I shit you not - they played fucking JOHNNY B. GOODE over the speakers, and everybody who previously looked like constipated robots started going CRAZY, like old fogey rock was like a combination of the most orgasmic sex and heroin.

I have NEVER seen so many cowboy hats thrown into the air, and I'm from Texas.

After this, they followed up with a speech by Joe Lieberman. I told them to turn it off after two minutes.

Nintendo's E3 conference is now the SECOND-worst conference of 2008.

Seriously, all the Republicans need to shoot themselves. You are making other countries laugh at us.

Agreed, I think Angie and myself are the only really staunch Republicans that visit with any frequency. Frankly, this year's conference was fairly pointless, it was blatantly obvious who was gonna get the nomination, and has been for months. He could have had a 15 minute press conference announcing Sarah Palin as his running mate and been done. But honestly, how is them playing Johnny B. Goode any different from Clinton playing the saxophone 16 years ago?

Yes, I am a Republican. I am for SMALL government (see signature). I must point out that Bush has not held up all of the Republican ideals for the last 8 years.

I don't think he was being sneaky when he led us into Iraq. I believe that he had intelligence going both ways, and if it was me I'd err on the side of protecting my country too.

I'm confident that if Gore had won the 2000 election, he would have been crying about terrorists and done nothing about it.

More than anything else, I believe that we should over-defend rather than under-defend. (C'mon, you people couldn't guess that?) If there's any threat at all I am all for kicking ass.

And did I mention that I am very anti-abortion? Once Mommy Dearest knows she's pregnant, the heart of her fetus is already beating. The only reason that 1-month-old fetuses can't survive on their own is because our technology isn't up to snuff.

I've also seen first-hand the difficulty in adopting. Why would I be "for" aborting a perfectly healthy child, when someone would do anything to raise that child?

That said, I'm on the fence when it comes to pregnancies due to rape. I can imagine a woman being raped, getting pregnant, not being able to deal with the emotional pain that carrying the child to term would bring, and killing herself and the baby.

The fact that we haven't invaded half of those countries is proof that the Iraq war wasn't (or at least wasn't primarily) about oil. We get most of our imported oil from Venezuela, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia. Russia is also a major exporter of oil, although not so much to us. We could probably outright annex, if not buy Cananada, and they have the second largest oil reserves in the world. Oil may have been a spoil of war, but it wasn't the primary motivation.
