I know I'm the only real band geek around here but everyone has suffered through trying to research something wherethe useful information amounts to about nil.
I spent a couple hours yesterday researching how to get into a drum corps. Being in a drum corps is almost like major leauge marching band. Once you get into the subject of corps though you have Open Class (a fair mix of high scool and college kids, less traveling and less exposure) and World Class (the more well known DCs, mostly college students, and a LOT of traveling arnd the country).
There seems to be no solid info anywhere, just navigating blindly through pages of the different corps and hoping for some luck on Google. But I sent out a few emails and got a reply this morning!! It was from Carolina Crown though, which I think is a World Class band meaning more traveling (my parents won't approve) and more competition to get in. I've only got hopes for that and a corps in Tenessee.
It seems a quite hopeless endeavor that I'm still excited about anyway. _________________ I'm a saddened man; I'm a broken boy; I'm a toddler with a complex toy.

It is Joe-Like in that it is a huge undertaking with many obstacles. Where it ends being Joe like is in that she might actually complete the task.
//sorry Joe, just couldn't resist.
For the record, back in the day I was a band geek (although at my school we were sadly called bad fags) also. Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band. I was playing every day for one reason or another.

Heh. I'd really like to know what my chances are in a million of making it into a corps AND my parents letting me go. Probably close to nil.
I'm actually trying to learn to play trumpet. Again. Right now I'm just a guardie but I'd love more than anything to play.
Sorry neo.

Really? Maybe I'm one of the few that actually liked/has a pretty decent band. More and more people say that. _________________ I'm a saddened man; I'm a broken boy; I'm a toddler with a complex toy.

oh, there are good memories, there are bad memories, and it depends on which band I look at. I prefer to forget most of them, as it's a past life almost, and that way I can say I'm getting old _________________ --

Well I mean people can be hyped about anything, so I guess band is OK to be hyped about, but I would dare say EA's band is rare, as most bands just don't give a shit.
actually my brother toured with an open class core this past summer, he did about what it sounds like your doing, looking for ones that are around and possible to get to and then he picked one and started going to the tryout/camp things they put on and practicing the hell out of all the stuff they gave him, but he was going out for quads, and got a vibe part in the pit so... _________________ anything witty is only witty once
