Uhhh, really?

Buffy, Angel, Firefly, nearly every other shit sci-fi thing.

Plus I actually tried to watch this thing, the "music" is bottom of the barrel retarded shit that would even make Andrew Lloyd Webber embarrassed.

Honestly...he should be your hero. He took something dorky such as liking vampires and magic and nerded it up all the way to the bank.

I can tell you like some dorky things too. I am not ripping on you. I am quite the nerd myself.

Also, don't rip on Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I don't like vampires, and I don't like when people "nerd up things all the way to the bank", especially when they do it for the attraction of the mainstream, not the nerds.

Oh, I'm not ripping on him. He's a great guy. Can't write a musical for shit though.

That's a matter of opinion. icon_smile.gif I happen to think that The Phantom of the Opera is an awesome show. And Cats. And The Sound of Music is incredible.

I don't think Joss's intention was to be a nerd sell-out. Remember, the original Buffy was an awful movie. In the same vein, Buffy the show, and Angel, did not have a super huge following at first. Both the Simpsons and the X Files (not to mention Law and Order and NYPD Blue...and...*shudder* Sex and the City) were huge shows at the time that Buffy came out, and in my opinion Whedon's shows didn't start getting popular with the mainstream until the current kings started losing steam regardless of what time slots they had. From what I remember, Angel had already split off when Buffy really got popular, and the show also was riding on Sarah Michelle Gellar's movie career and holy hell I just realized what a friggin' nerd I am.

Ya know what? Ignore me. You're welcome to your opinion. icon_smile.gif

Dr. Horrible was nothing short of delightful. There's just something about silly musicals...

Now, regarding Joss Whedon's other stuff, I'm not much of a Buffy/Angel fan. I can understand why others like them, but I'm simply not into the whole vampire thing. Firefly, though, was wonderful. I never thought I'd be able to enjoy a space-western.

And, please, neofox, don't insult Andrew Lloyd Webber's abilities. Jesus Christ Superstar is pretty much the greatest musical EVER.

I'm not insulting his abilities. He is the best writer of songs that have superfluously inane lyrics and flamboyantly cloy/overly melodramatic musical arrangements.

We had to watch Evita in school. I'm surprised it didn't turn into another school shooting. No one liked it.

Phantom Of The Opera is a story I've never been into, Sound Of Music is sugarcoating the tragedy of the Holocaust, Cats is just plain retarded, and Jesus Christ Superstar IMO should make like it's namesake and become nonexistent.

But all in all, Roger Waters said it best:

Quote:
We cower in our shelters
With our hands over our ears
Lloyd-Webber's awful stuff
Runs for years and years and years
An earthquake hits the theatre
But the operetta lingers
Then the piano lids comes down
And break his fucking fingers
It's a miracle

BLASPHEMY! Joss Whedon is a genius. His Buffy comics don't really do it for me, but I did enjoy Fray and everything else he's ever done (except the Buffy movie, but that wasn't really his fault). And for a non-composer, I think he did a really remarkable job with the musical episode.

Also, Andrew Lloyd Webber is one of the most notable composers ever. The only composer I like better is Stephen Sondheim.

I happened to like Dr. Horrible. I also loved Firefly and Serenity.

Not a fan of Buffy or Angel.

Geez. I just wanted to post what I thought was a funny show. I didn't intend for it to turn into a Joss Whedon wank fest. (Firefly was AWSOME, I own the series and the movie Serenity, I've seen exactly ONE episode of Buffy, and only because it came on at three in the morning when I couldn't sleep, and I've never seen an episode of Angel)

Anyone who hates Joss Whedon is hereby excused from watching. icon_rolleyes.gif There will not be a quiz, and it won't count against your final grade.
