I just finished reading this article about Benoit and his wife arguing over caring for their Fragile X child. The article made it sound like this could have tied into the murder/suicide. For those of you who don't know what Fragile X is it is a chromosome mutation and is closely related to autism. As a parent of an autistic child I can certaily relate to the frustration, sadness, and desparation that comes with these syndromes. Sadly, there are also numerous cases of muders and murder/suicides of mentally hadicapped and their caregivers. If Fragile X was the cause of this horrible act, I wish they would have gotten help. It is available. I often wish for a hotline or crisis line for caregivers to call when they are reaching these points. These children are a lot of work, but they are wonderful if you just try to change your way of thinking in order to try to understand them. I need to go and give my son a hug now.
