But there'll be things to do and talk about during that time. The forums will stay up, and some fun little projecty things will peek their heads out, including the re-launch of one you guys already know
Could it be MIM? Or 25 Cameras? _________________ Help me GoogleBomb for Joe's publicity!

I believe A Small Victory should be the closer. It would definitely make a great ending. _________________ Facebook me!

I for one, am really interested in finding out how Joe and Andrea got together. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but has this ever been covered? That is how I always figured the book to end.
They've known one another forever, and one always seemed to be taken when the other was single. Andrea, after the signed laptop at the concert, realized that she could just be with the Man rather than the person who knew the man who got his laptop signed at a concert.
She dumped Greg and they hooked up. Thats pretty much it, as far as I can gather.

Very amusing.
Did I just use an emoticon? I'm sorry.
I'm still a little worried that the book won't sell very well outisde the established MI community and friends, mostly because we have all the connectivity and behind the story type information that really make the anecdotes come to life.
All the chapters that didn't win a place in the book add to our experience, but readers won't be able to appreciate them unless they come to MI--ohhhh, maybe that's the trick. Provide a URL at the end of each chapter to the MI site where the losing chapter could be found--but back to my concern about connectivity of the stories. Er, rather I'm done with that because connectivity is the concern.
I hope it does well. _________________ Le Roi Soleil

YOU'RE worried? I'm petrified! But that's the thing - growing from the inside and spreading outward. The goal of MI and the book was never to go out and be some sort of instant bestseller. I don't even think it's CAPABLE of being a bestseller - it's just not that type of book. It's not "for" everyone, it's for those who get it and like it. And that's 10000000% fine by me.
Without getting too deep into bullshit marketing theories and all that nonsense, it's my hope that the MI community will support the book, pick it up, and pass it on, bringing more folks into the fold - people they know and trust, which means they're like us, so when they join, they won't just go tossing all kinds of nonsensical crap into the forums and comments.
Evaluating the chapter selections, I've noticed that chapters that are "WOW HOLY CRAP I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!!" type stories ended up being the overwhelming favorites, and I guess there's a reason for that. But the fact that romance.net is a wildcard, the fact that I will be putting 5 extra chapters into the book, and the fact that this book will be sold 99% by word of mouth means that those who get a copy will more than likely understand what's happening in the background.

You've kinda stumbled upon my entire mission with MI. I'm not going to get into it here, because my entire missive will be going on the front page of this site once the book closes, but the experiment here is to see if the internet truly can be used to build a book and establish connections that transcend a printed page or book club. The connections themselves won't be necessarily lost, since I plan to explain the process of making this book and encourage new readers to hit the site and join up to be a part of the next book. But as far as providing URL's to the stories that didn't make it... Well, that'll be impossible, since they will be removed from this site after the book closes.
But fret not - they're not being deleted permanently. They'll show up again someday

Joe, you are a total ledge (as in legend)
I can't wait for this book to be out... Are you going to be shipping it yourself or will it be available on Amazon e.t.c? It may have been mentioned earlier i'm not sure.
Oh yeah, and is MIM still running? I seem to have fallen afoul of that being so many hundreds of miles away! ack.
My vote lies with ending with A Small Victory. It's a killer ending, if you ask me. Like when Vin Diesel guns the car in front of a train, only this isn't a plotless car movie.

Okay, it looks like most folks are supporting the 'ol Bush line, "Stay the course."
I've re-evaluated the pagecounts and such, and I do believe it'd be possible to put "A Small Victory" in the book as a chapter 13 final chapter and still allow voting on all the stories for Chapter 12. What do you guys think of THAT idea?
If enough people are in support, i'll post the vote to the main poll during the Guest Chapter II posting for a few days I'll do it.

Hmm. That sounds like a good idea. Sometimes I wonder where you come up with these things!
