Dug through LoDT and found an old thread with usercodes and XBox Live names of MI users so that people would have this information readily available. This makes Maggot_Hex a true hero in every sense of the word. Be sure to let him know how much you appreciate his digging through LoTD to find that thread so that you could post into it and read the names of other MI users who have handles on gaming networks, because he deserves the praise and accolades.

Just pick something that has some common misconceptions and run with it. I'm going with college on mine.
Myth: College will be the best four years of your life.
Truth: College will be the best six years of your life.
Myth: Freshman year is to weed out the slackers.
Truth: Freshman year is for the slackers to break out the weed.
Myth: College girls are as horny as college guys.
Truth: If they were they'd be slipping roofies in our drinks.

Continuing in the vein of school-stuff...
Myth: Physics is useful for figuring out important things, like how much energy will be required to get a plane off the ground, or how much time it will take for a car to slow to a stop before crushing a kitten.
Truth: Physics is useful for knowing how fast various items will be moving when they reach the ground after being dropped from your fourth-floor dorm room, and whether they will provide enough force to kill the 'tards standing around and yelling to people on the fifth floor when you're trying to sleep. |

M'kay. Here's a topic that seems to have lots and lots of big myths: Alaska.
Myth: Everyone rides to work/school on a polar bear/dog sled
Truth: Indeed we do! See Snow Dogs.
Myth: And we all have pet penguins.
Truth: Penguins only live in the Southern Hemisphere. We keep lolruses for pets.
Myth: Everywhere in Alaska, it's dark for a month, so it would be an ideal environment for vampires.
Truth: Vampires don't exist, smartness.
Myth: Igloos are used by Eskimos as a shelter when out hunting. They really have proper houses.
Truth: Eskimos really, truly live in igloos! Some of the richer Eskimos have even gotten electricity and running water! |
